San Francisco Mine, Cerro Prieto, Cucurpe, Sonora, Mexico
This wulfenite cluster is from the famous San Francisco Mine in Mexico. The crystals are a vibrant and sunny yellow with some orange undertones. The wulfenite crystals are window-pane transparent and have sharp, beveled edges for a great aesthetic. They combine with dark orange botryoidal mimetite and are set on gray matrix for a nice contrasting backdrop. A few crystals have minor damage (which is common as wulfenite tends to be quite brittle and fragile), but it does not detract from the beauty of the piece. This is a good sized plate and has a good mass of crystals and represents a famous locality that is long closed.
