Description
Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Estrie, Quebec, Canada
A gorgeous and large single crystal of vesuvianite has a fantastic peaked and symmetrical termination. It has a gorgeous chartreuse color and is really gemmy. While not the dark green of many chromium vesuvianite specimens, this piece does fluoresce red under UV and has an intensity of color indicative of chrome content. Jeffery Mine closed several years ago and material has become rarer and rarer, especially gemmy piece such as this. The main crystal is accented by several side crystals which give a sculptural aesthetic to the entire piece.
