Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
This specimen is a fine example of the world class vanadinites that have come from the Mibladen Area in Morocco. This area hosts horizontally layered deposits of barite and galena within limestones and dolostones. Although this area was commercially mined in the middle of the century, today artisan miners work independently. Over 600 circular shafts have been drilled down into the host rock where usually a single miner descends more than 10 meters to work. This specimen hosts crystals of various sizes which combines with the high luster for a very sparkling and shining piece. I really like the graduation of color on the crystals with areas and zones of yellows, oranges, and brick reds. It is in good condition with a great variety of crystal shapes and habits.
