Description
Pomba Pit, Serra das Eguas, Brumado, Bahia, Brazil
A vibrant, highly lustrous translucent bright green cluster of uvite tourmaline are perched on a snowy white magnesite crystal matrix. Uvite is a rare member of the popular tourmaline family and is known for having a shortened prism (or c-axis). Because the r- faces of the terminations are predominant, these really look like garnets without close examination. There is also a tiny quartz crystal next to the uvite grouping. The magnesite is white colored and shows a really nice rhombohedral form. Altogether, this combination is really a classic in a good size of this famous find.
