Description
Cruzeiro Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
A gem green tourmaline has a very sharp termination and high luster on a bed of light purple to tan lepidolite. The main crystal has a flattened and inverted front prism and measures 3.4 x 1.2 cm. The bottom of the piece is off of the rock so the crystal is not doubly terminated, but it does show some chatoyancy inclusions at its bottom. The lepidolite grouping hosts other smaller tourmaline crystals embedded throughout.
