Description
Spitzkopje Area, Karibib, Klein-Spitzkopje Granite Area, Erongo Region, Namibia
A really great combination piece of the famous locality Klein-Spitzkopje in Namibia. It features and translucent white topaz crystal intergrown with a cola-colored smoky quartz crystal and a black schorl tourmaline. The unusual massif formation (a mountain arising out of a very flat area) is famous for its silvery white topaz crystals, often weathered out and not on matrix. This area only rarely produces schorl tourmaline although much schorl is found in the Erongo Mountain areas. The schorl tourmaline on this piece is included in the flattened smoky quartz and truncates (and complicates) the termination of the smoky quartz crystal. The back is off of the rock and the quartz and schorl are flattened on their b-axes. The piece is in overall good condition with some minor edge rubs only.
