A gem clear, sharp, cognac color topaz crystal is crossed by two smaller topaz crystal and is from the famous Thomas Mountains. This piece is absolutely gem clear, with perfect terminations all around. It shines with superb luster within a coating of rhyolite coating on the backside of the crystal and partially penetrating the crystals as inclusions. Formed within gas vesicles in cooling lava, topaz from this location generally remains quite small compared to pegamatic topaz crystal. This is a good-sized specimen with no damage.
