Description
Merelani Hills, Lelatema Mountains, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania
Most tanzanite, including specimen grade pieces, are treated at the mine site in Tanzania. Because of these specimens with natural color are highly sought by gem crystal collectors. You can identify a naturally colored one by a more subdued color or by traces of greens, yellows or reds. Even more intensely blue specimens can be natural and will often show a red when lit through the C-axis (from the bottom by general perspective). This tanzanite specimen features a beautiful natural color that spans a range from yellow tips into greens and blues in the center, even showing a deep blue phantom. The specimen is fantastically gemmy and features wonderfully defined terminations that contrast not only in color but texture. An amazing and difficult to find specimen for the discerning natural collector.
