Description
Arigento Province, Sicily, Italy
What is it about sulfurs?! Oh yes, of course — that COLOR. A primary color in perfect saturation so rich it nearly glows in the hand. This piece shows complex crystals that are quite large and detailed over a bright white matrix – classic from Italy. It is difficult to find specimens with large crystal size as most plates show sulfur crystals a centimeter or less. The back is cleaved and likely off the rock, but this is not seen at all from the front, which is pristine. I love showing sulfur crystals to children and people new to minerals as they are so amazingly pretty, but they have a slight odor of rotten eggs when smelled up close. Their reactions are great, and I promise this piece will not smell up your case or room!
