Description
Trummery Quarry, Castle Robin/ White Mountain, County Antrin, Northern Ireland
Glistening and gemmy stilbites have pointed terminations and line a small vug of basaltic matrix from an extremely rare locality. Described in detail in a handwritten letter by Foy to William Metropolis, Mr. Foy was sending samples to W. Metropolis from this rare location for study and analysis. Attempts to find further zeolites were hampered as the rig fell over the edge of the quarry and was destroyed. Although this piece shows edge damage where it was extracted it is a very rare piece from a novel locality. The letter accompanied 4 pieces including an epistilbite and chabazite and another 2 stilbite pieces.
