Description
Banská Štiavnica (Schemnitz), Banská Štiavnica County, Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia
This piece is from an old, classic locality recently featured in the Mineralogical Record known currently as Banska Stiavnica and formerly known as Schemnitz. A large sulfide mine that operated from 1500 or so (maybe earlier) this is a great piece of this famous locality. It features dark gunmetal gray to silvery galena crystals with small gem yellow sphalerites. This is accented with sharp white quartz points for a great combination piece. One edge was taken off of the rock and does not show from the front. The piece is otherwise undamaged.
