Description
Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas), Pakistan
This specimen is a really neat combination piece from the famous Shigar Valley in Pakistan. Perched at the top of the specimen is a large and translucent spessartine garnet. It is complex and approximately 1.7 x 1.2 x 1 cm, which is quite large for the area. It is perched atop terminated and gemmy quartz crystals which are nestled amongst sharp and snowy orthoclase crystals. The specimen is undamaged from 3 sides while the back is off of the rock. The piece has smaller garnet crystals which seem to graduate down the center of the crystal. The piece is uncleaned and shows micro dusting of garnet and other minerals within the crevasses between the main crystals.
