Description
Pit No. 9, Touissit-Bou Beker District, Jerada Province, L’oriental Region, Morocco
A smithsonite from the well known Pit No. 9 (Puit IX) in the Beddiane Deposit, Morocco is truly beautiful and striking. This locality produced very few smithsonites in general, and this quality and size is exceptional. This specimen is composed of incredibly lustrous and gemmy crystals which have a deep and entrancing green color. The crystals are surprisingly sizeable and, when observed closely, you can see that they are curved rhombohedrals with distinctive faces and isolation of form (best seen in image 5). The luster is top with a wet shining appearance which shows the graduations in color and the details of the crystal form. This specimen also comes with a custom acrylic base which makes it immediately ready for display.
