Description
Jalgaon District, Maharashtra, India
A very unusual piece from Jalgaon, India, a place known for interesting quartz drusy pseudomorphs. This piece is a quartz after calcite where the calcite formed amazing fishtail twins before they were partially replaced by quartz. The calcites have maintained their shape (amazingly) as they were replaced by the quartz. With a strong light, traces of the original golden to orange calcites can be seen in the centers of the individual formations. The druzy has a very intense luster which makes the specimen sparkle, and the edges of the specimen curl up around the cluster creating almost a perfect frame for the specimen as well. This piece brings a high level of detail to those who enjoy studying their pieces.
