Les Farges Mine, Ussel, Ussel, Correze, Nouvelle-Aquitane, France
Prismatic crystals of deep green are intricately formed and hoppered. They have great, wet appearing luster and are slightly lighter in color near the top terminations. These crystals have formed with smaller, yellow to mustard colored crystals over a botryoidal limonite matrix. Once highly prized, the pyromorphites from Les Farges were overshadowed by the Daoping Mine in China production several years ago, but there has been a resurgence in interest in these classics. The deeper green colors and variety in both color and habit were not matched in the Daoping find. This piece shows some of this variety with large coverage and showy crystals.
