Description
Wushan Spessertine Mine, Tongbei, Yunxiao County, Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China
Wushan Mine in China has become a classic for its rich spessartite garnets and smoky quartz pieces. It is quite rare for sulfides in general to be formed at this locality and very few pyrite pieces have come from here. Pyrites from this locality have a unique and distinctive habit, showing smooth cubes with beveled corners. Many of the few pieces of pyrite from this mine are heavily corroded, but this piece retains its sharp form. It rests in the center of a large plate of beautiful orange spessartite garnets over a modified feldspar matrix.
