Description
Akatani Mine, Shibata City, Niigata Prefecture, Chubu Region, Honshu Island, Japan
A rare silicate with calcium and manganese, johannsenite is typically yellow or white in color and mineralizes in very small crystals. This miniature sized piece shows light teal johannsenite crystals radiating in their matrix. From an abandoned iron mine worked in the 1950s, this is a nice example of the species.
