Description
Treasure Mountain Diamond Mine, Little Falls, Herkimer County, New York, USA
A great cluster of gem Herkimer diamond quartz crystals shows the rare “dumbbell” scepter form. It has a grouping of clear quartz on each end of a thick and heavily included hydrocarbon (anthraxolite / pyrobitumen) stem. Gemmy and lustrous top crystals attached to a main crystal that is increasingly included with petroleum and hydrocarbons as it nears the stem. The stem is thick, stubby, and black, contrasting with the gemmy white top and bottom. The base of the piece shows smaller and less well-formed quartz diamonds and the bottom appears to be off of the rock. Mined in the 2000’s from the now closed Treasure Mountain Diamond Mine, this is a very aesthetic piece showing great contrast in white and black.
