Description
N’Chwaning II Mine, Kuruman, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape Province, South Africa
A brilliant metallic cluster of hematite from the N’Chwanging Mines, Northern Cape Province, South Africa shows the classic mirror bright luster these pieces are famous for having. This sharply formed hematite is large for the locality and shows two areas of complex crystals. Parallel growth of the hematite results in a repetition of certain complex edges which is best viewed from the top. This specimen also has a few small andradite garnets which create sparkling reflections in the brightness of the hematites. This piece is in good condition overall, with a few areas of bruising. This is one of my favorite pieces in terms of detail and as a representation of the locality.
