Description
Wah Wah Mountains, Beaver County, Utah, USA
While the Wah Wah Mountains are famous for its red beryl’s (or bixbites), it has not been as recognized for its unique grossular garnet. Grossular garnet is the garnet variety that generally has calcium and aluminum as its cations with a silicate anion. This chartreuse color is quite unique to the area which only produced a few of these garnets and is not producing today. This garnet has a large size and brighter color than most from the area. It has a textbook dodecahedron habit and perches high on top of rhyolite matrix. The garnet is complete with a few minor scuffs.
