Description
Sapo Mine, Ferruginha, Conselheiro Pena, Minas Gerais, Brazil
This transparent sapo tourmaline crystal has a deep blue green color near the base with areas of more yellowish green near the middle and top termination. It is accompanied by groups of doubly terminated quartz crystals. The quartz crystals are gemmy and lustrous and have tons of small tourmaline inclusions within them. While Sapo is most famous for its rainbow or blue capped tourmalines, it also made wonderful inclusion quartz pieces. This piece is undamaged at the top. I did examine it with the microscope and there are micro crystallizations of rehealing along with a very faint feldspar dusting. The bottom of the tourmaline is either broken or rehealed, but the rest of the piece is undamaged.
