Description
Sweetwater Mine, Ellington, Viburnum Trend District, Reynolds County, Missouri, USA
A beautiful classic of Sweetwater, Missouri galena has interpenetrated cubes with great form. Repetitive twinning causes a convex shape to the centers of the crystal where they have many small crystal faces aggregated together. These details catch the light and give a nice sculptural form. (It also causes the piece to appear blue or even purple in photography – that color is present in some lighting conditions, but really they are gray) In good condition with some minor bruising to the edges, this is great piece– and very heavy for its size.
