Description
Denton Mine, Harris Creek Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
A deep purple floater of fluorite combines with barite for an interesting and pretty piece from the famous Denton Mine in Illinois. The fluorites are sharply reticulated and a deep purple in ambient light. With a bright backlight however, the piece comes alive with a blue and purple zoned core with the classic “speckling” due to minute chalcopyrite crystals. The edges show many thin and sharp phantoms in various hues of white, lavender, and purple. Tiny, full crystal of barite give a white veil to a side of the piece. The back is a flat triangle and recrystallized. No significant damages.
