This striking gem tourmaline crystal is completely transparent with a dark navy blue to almost black color in ambient light that shows a sapphire blue with strong lighting or when backlit. It is well-striated with a fine pyramidal termination at its top. The bottom is incomplete and jagged, likely from a contracted crystal in the pocket. This piece is from the famous Pederneira Mine, Brazil.
