Description
Rubtsovskoe Deposit, Rudnyi Altai, Altaiskii Krai Western-Siberian Region, Russia
This is a very nice cuprite with silver, great crystal structure, stepped edges, and ruggedly defined terminations. While cuprite forms as a red crystal, the oxidation process leads to a silver patina. Strong backlighting reveals the red color under the patina. There is a small nick to one edge of the crystal which is otherwise intact and has formed with a small amount of native silver.
