Description
Mibladen Mining District, Midelt Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco
A now rare classic specimen of grayish cerussite shows complex growth on a matrix of bright orange barite crystals. From the end, the cerussite crystal demonstrates a textbook orthorhombic shape with a flattened pinacoid and tiny bevels of the dipyramids at the corners. From the side of the crystal, it shows complex twinning and intergrowth. The orange to salmon color of the unique Mibladen barites gives a great contrast and shows of the cerussite perched at its top. The cerussite fluoresces a bright chalky yellow in both LW and SW UV light. It has a neat phantom effect where the fluorescence is stronger on the edges and weaker at the center.
