Description
Annabel Lee Mine, Harris Creek Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
Lustrous pale blue celestine crystals combine with tiny barite crystals to make a complete floater piece. It has several sculptural viewing angles. From the front, the celestine crystals form 3 distinct rounded formations with protruding stubby crystals rising from amongst tiny crystals of white barite. The sides and back have more radial or acicular formations of the celestine, without as much of the barite. From Annabel Lee Mine which has been long closed, this is a great example of Illinois celestine which was relatively common in the mine, but not often saved.
