Description
Sultepa Quarry, Tainhas, Cambara Do Sul, Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil
A large plate of rare brown stellerite combines with clear chabazite crystals for an interesting piece. The stellerite crystals are distinctly single and prismatic with flat tops. Certain sides of the crystals are lustrous and dark brown while others are have a pearly, nearly iridescent, tan color. While most stellerites show dramatic radial growth resulting in spheres or hemispheres, these crystals are distinctly prismatic and individual. They are accented by diamond shaped clear and gemmy chabazite crystals. Although chabazite is triclinic, these crystals appear almost rhombohedral. The edges of the piece were clearly sawn through to remove the piece, but otherwise the piece is in good condition and rich in detail.
