Description
Shigar Valley, Skardu District, Baltistan, Gilgit-Baltistan (Northern Areas), Pakistan
A doubly terminated blue aquamarine is gem clear. It has a interesting milky white inclusions which form perfect rings circling the edge of the piece. The luster is high which allows these rings to be easily seen. The top termination is complex – it has bevels (extra dipyramidal crystal faces) and a complex spiculation resulting from tiny parallel growth on the top. The bottom is dissolved and recrystallized into a very pointed shape. This likely resulted from a sharp fracture in the pocket with regrowth sometime after.
