Description
Doi Ty, Quy Chau District, Nghe An Province, Vietnam
Vietnamese aquamarines are famous for their naturally rich blue colors. This specimen is doubly terminated with one end showing a beveled hexagonal termination, while the other has a frosted white cap. The frosted bottom of the crystal has a contact where another crystal formed against it. The body of the crystal shows a medium to dark blue color which really glows with lighting along its length. About a third of the way up the crystal, a small patch of feldspar mildly interrupted the prism’s growth, causing an interesting little wedge depression to about halfway up the crystal where the hexagon is again complete. This is a great little jewel of a modern-day classic.
