Ladjuar Madan (Lapis Lazuli Deposit), Sar-e Sang District, Koksha Valley, Khash and Kuran Wa Munjan Districts, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan
A well crystallized afghanite crystal is perched aesthetically on a marble matrix with tiny pyrite crystals as accents. The afghanite has the classic azure-blue color and is approximately 2cm wide and 1.3 cm tall. It is translucent with a glowing deep blue color when backlit and its hexagonal shape is evident when viewed from top down. It is undamaged and true orange fluorescent in longwave UV. In shortwave UV it is reddish orange and the marble matrix is bright yellow.
